The Indian job market would have added 133 million new jobs by the end of 2022. Job options today are dynamic, expectations from job roles are more futuristic, and the need to close the achievement gap between aspirants and a career fit is now more than ever.
For far too long, India has approached careers in a straight-jacketed way. Career counseling is accessible only to a few, decisions are made basis half-baked career information pieced together through a cocktail of research and hearsay, and focussed career guidance is limited and unstructured. 88% of working Indian professionals say they look for a mentor from their industry to guide them, but only a minuscule few manage to find one. The reason for this gap is that 86% of working professionals actively look for opportunities to mentor but are unable to find a platform fit. A combination of limited guidance in choosing a career and an ever-changing job market is the recipe for an impending career crisis.
